Frater is the directing work of Benji Davies and Jim Field
Benji and Jim met while studying for a BA in Animation in Hull. With a shared passion for drawing, their paths have been aligned ever since.

Not long after university they set up Frater, the collaborative umbrella for their animation projects.
Benji was accepted on Channel 4's prestigious Animator In Residence where he directed his short "The Grotlyn" under the production guidance of Studio AKA. Meanwhile, Jim was directing a short for the "Animated Minds" series raising mental health awareness, also for Channel 4, produced by the Documentary
Filmmakers Group

They have since co-directed many short films, virals, promos and commercials, both animated and live-action including their watercolour spectacular on Ladyhawke's "My Delirium" promo, which gained them wide attention including a D&AD nomination.

Benji and Jim also work independently in the fields of editorial illustration and children's publishing, with over twenty titles collectively and continued success both in the UK and abroad

Their combined experience of character design, visual storytelling and attention to design detail enables them to span a wide range of animation styles and techniques, where high production values and aesthetics are key.
